If you were a strong fan of Magazine, then you will find Affection Place an irresistible offering. Dave Formula (ex-Magazine) will be joining Affection Place live on keyboards.

Born out of the New Wave movement in the late 70’s, Lyon-based Affection Place were regular support for Magazine, The Cramps, A Certain Ratio and many more. They have a sound reminiscent of Magazine, Killing Joke, and early Simple Minds (who were early influenced by Magazine).

After a near 40 year hiatus the band reformed and worked with Visage and Magazine’s keyboard wizard and producer Dave Formula to record a new album, Smouldering Fire, released in the UK in January 2024.

Alongside their original material expect a touch of Magazine as well.

“Shades of Killing Joke and Magazine… sounds like goth-pop overlap of Sisters of Mercy and the Damned.” – UNCUT magazine 7/10
