From Monday 6 to Friday 10 March 2023, Confetti‘s Industry Week returned, as industry leaders from the worlds of media, music, games, events and esports came to the campus to inspire college and degree learners.
Metronome was proud to once again be part of the week-long inspirational event, hosting many of the talks and workshops. The speakers included Games Broadcaster Alysia Judge, editor Richard Graham who’s known for working on The Crown, award-winning artist Murugiah and more.
British DJ, electronic artist and composer, Sister Bliss graced the Metronome stage on day one. She talked to students about her journey in the music industry, her astonishingly successful career, and advised on how to navigate and sustain a career in music.
Founder of Creature Bionics, creative and entrepreneur within the acting and animation industry, Ace Ruele gave a charismatic and engaging talk, demonstrating his own physical acting prowess. He offered students top tips on creature character development and the importance of branding.
We also saw BBC Introducing in the East Midlands return on International Women’s Day. The sold-out gig, hosted and curated by the legendary Dean Jackson, showcased some of the best up-and-coming local talent including Courtney, Lyvia, Jerub and Bexx. We regularly host BBC Introducing events at Metronome, so keep your eyes peeled for future dates. We spoke to Confetti student, Courtney, about Industry Week as a whole and in particular her performance:
“I have always really enjoyed Industry Week but this year was the best for me! I have been attending them since I started at Confetti college and it has lead me up to the big moment on BBC Introducing where I was honoured to perform for International Women’s Day with my amazing band. I am always inspired by Industry Week and the people they bring in and so to be a part of that was an honour.”
This year’s Industry Week may have only just finished, but we’re already excited to see what Confetti pulls out of the bag for Industry Week 2024!
