On Thursday 21 April, For Frocks Sake took over Metronome with a little live music and a lot of clothes swapping!
For Frocks Sake is a simple, sustainable way to refresh your wardrobe and keep clothes out of landfills. The premise is simple – buy your ticket for £15.00, drop off some clothes that have been sitting in your wardrobe unused, turn up on the night to enjoy some live music and a drink or two, and pick up a few new outfits!
Did you know that around 50% of clothes go unworn? Even more worrying, More than 300,000 tonnes of used clothing goes to landfill in the UK every year, according to Wrap, the waste charity. With such a need for better sustainability, events like this where we find ways to recycle and reuse clothes rather than chucking them away are becoming increasingly popular and necessary.
Alongside the clothes swapping and live music, the eco conscious lifestyle shop, Little Eco Loft set up a stall in the atrium for people to browse and pick up body wash, hand gel, laundry eggs and refill pellets, and more local sustainable goodies!
We caught up with the founders of For Frocks Sake after the event to find out how they felt it went.
The Atrium at Metronome was the very beating heart of our event. The space felt intimate, yet spacious and our attendees were cocooned by stunning architecture, creativity and beautiful pre-loved garments. The service provided by the Metronome team has been impeccable from start to finish across marketing, PR, bar staff, technicians cleaning and security. Communication across all teams to ourselves and our guests was excellent, they really couldn’t do enough to help and facilitate a great evening.
A real gem of a venue that we would not hesitate to use again for future events. There was a buzz of creativity from the moment we walked through the doors that was infectious!”
All unswapped garments were donated to Children’s Air Ambulance in West Bridgford.
