Johnny Vegas – Possibly the best stand up in the country

Darrell Martin – “In this age of touchy feely confessional comedy it’s nice to see a comedian that’s not afraid to be heartless” – The Scotsman

Johnny Vegas is a national treasure, known by millions for his TV panel appearances, film acting, adverts and generally being a very funny, lovable character. To those in the comedy industry, he is known as possibly the best live performer in the country… ever. His club sets, compering and solo shows in the late 90’s were stuff of legend. A lot of his early gigs were at Just the Tonic when we were at The Old Vic on Fletchergate. Johnny is returning to the craft that made him famous.

Darrell Martin set up Just the Tonic in 1994 and still runs the clubs. In his time he has compered at loads of clubs around the country, has supported comedians on tour (including Johnny Vegas) as well as growing Just the Tonic into a nationally recognised chain of clubs as well as having a large presence at the Edinburgh fringe Festival.

Over time, Johnny and Darrell have shared a lot of mad nights, as well as a national tour and have become mates outside of their professional contact. In this show, Johnny Vegas chats to Darrell about stand up, and whatever else comes up. They have done something similar in Leicester at The Comedy Festival for two years, and it’s proven to be a great laugh. They’re now bringing the show to Nottingham, where people can remember the legendary nights, join in the stories, and hopefully prod the memory banks.

Seated gigs offer disabled access within the first three rows inside the venue.
Standing gigs offer accessibility for disabled patrons in our mezzanine. We will always do our best to accommodate individual requirements, and other viewing options may be available at standing gigs following a risk assessment of the event.
