Oh Wonder graced the Metronome stage on Wednesday 12 February, performing their new material to a sold-out crowd.
The Rough Trade album launch show saw alt-pop duo Anthony West and Josephine Vander Gucht – aka. Oh Wonder – performing their new album under the bright lights at Metronome.
The album ‘No One Else Can Wear Your Crown’ was released on Friday 7 February, and is the duo’s third album since their debut album released back in 2015.
Metronome was packed out for the event, the 400-capacity venue bursting at the seams with excited fans who were indulged with the band’s previous smash hits to which they sung along loudly.
Between songs – both old and new – the duo regaled tales of their career so far, their excitement about the new album and even, surprisingly, about exes. The song ‘Happy’ was written about Anthony’s ex-girlfriend; the irony of which is “not lost on me”, Josephine (who sings the song) explained hilariously to the crowd.
The pair performed with a backdrop of giant ‘O’ and ‘W’ letters, which had different lighting effects for different songs depending on mood and tempo. It was a really nice touch; pretty much every audience member was taking pictures.
Would we watch them again? In a heartbeat.
