Metronome Sessions return this autumn

We’re very excited to be kicking off the 2023 autumn programme with a new series of Metronome Sessions.

Bringing together the best pianists and folk artists from around the world, for intimate seated performances, Sessions have been a firm favorite in Metronome’s calendar.

Since first launching in 2021, we’ve welcomed numerous national and international performers to our main stage including pianist and Norwegian Grammy winner, Susanna; Munich and Berlin-based pianist and composer, Carlos Cipa, and BBC Radio 2 Folk award winner Rowan Rheingans to mention but a few.

Taking place monthly, our autumn 2023 programme includes:

Owen Spafford & Louis Campbell: Folk Session
Thursday 28 September 2023

Since forming their duo in 2018, Owen Spafford (Cosmo Sheldrake) and Louis Campbell (Sam Sweeney) have been nominated for the BBC Young Folk Award. Their debut album ‘You, Golden’ released in November 2022 blends influences from contemporary classical, post-rock, ECM Jazz and bluegrass cohesively and organically into English folk music with a combination of traditional and contemporary material which is sonically indistinguishable in origin.

Together they collect little known and forgotten lyrics, poems and stories from around the UK, and set them to their own hypnotically original compositions.
