2019 has been a huge year for Metronome, hosting some incredible live music, comedy and poetry events, plus much more. Take a look at some of the highlights…
Metronome only opened in October 2018, but we can already boast some brilliant events including a host of great music artists and bands. The likes of The Comet is Coming and Snapped Ankles have taken over the venue with amazing live performances, bringing impressive stage presence but also utilising the LED video wall to create truly immersive gigs.
Metronome has also seen The Delines, Sarathy Korwar, Ferris & Sylvester, Haelos, Children of Zeus, Melt Yourself Down, Flamingods and so many more music acts grace the stage.
However, 2019 hasn’t just been about music. We became the new home for comedy in Nottingham, as comedy club Just The Tonic set up residency for Saturday nights from Saturday 5 October. Reginald D Hunter, Dane Baptiste and Sarah Keyworth are just a few of the comedians that have performed on our stage. We’re very excited to announce this will carry on into 2020.
We’ve also held gaming events, from hosting a Nintendo Christmas Party – Smash and Karts in November, to the NSE British University Esports Championship 2019 Winter Finals in December. Both of which proved to be huge successes, so we can’t wait to extend our reach in the gaming community.
Metronome was also part of the Nottingham Poetry Festival in April and May. We welcomed Ian McMillan, Jim Otieno-Hall and Anne Holloway, as well as Caroline Bird, Georgina Wilding and Ioney Smallhorne. Andrew McMillan, Joshua Judson and Milla Tebbs also performed, and Linton Kwesi Johnson, Bridie Squires and Jamie Thrasivoulou. As part of the Nottingham Poetry Festival, we also hosted a masterclass with Sandeep Parmar.
