Every Wednesday this March, join Henry Normal and guests online for an evening of poetry and discussions – all for free. In association with Nottingham Poetry Festival and New Poetry Society.
In the first of the series, Henry Normal is joined by stand-up poet, comedian and broadcaster, Elvis McGonagall for an evening of poetry and discussions.
The 1 hour session will take place on Zoom where viewers will have the chance to ask their own questions. Ticket holders will receive a link on the day of the event.
Elvis McGonagall
A deftly witty wordsmith, sharp and subversive, Elvis regularly appears on Radio 4 and made the “Hot 100” – The List magazine’s annual run-down of Scotland’s “hottest cultural contributors”.
Two series of his sitcom “Elvis McGonagall Takes A Look On The Bright Side” have been broadcast on BBC Radio 4 where he appears regularly. He’s most recently appeared on “Stand-Up Specials: Full Tartan Jacket” which was the featured Radio 4 “Comedy of the Week” podcast, as well as the documentary “My Name Is Elvis” which featured on Radio 4’s “Pick of the Week’.
A live recording of his show “One Man And His Doggerel” is available on Laughing Stock Records and two collections of his poems have been published by Burning Eye Books – “Viva Loch Lomond!” and “Complete and Utter Cult!”
Henry Normal
Henry is a writer, poet and TV and Film producer and co-founder of the Nottingham Poetry Festival. In 2017 he was honoured with a special BAFTA for services to Television. Henry has 9 poetry collections in print and has a regular show on BBC Radio 4.

He was recently given a honorary doctorate of letters by Nottingham Trent University, another by University of Nottingham, and has had a beer and a bus named after him in Nottingham!
