“Album of the Week.” The Line of Best Fit

Flamingods (Moshi Moshi records) fuse Western psychedelia, jazz and indie with music from the East. Championed by the Guardian, BBC 6 Music, KEXP and BBC Radio 1 the band create a potent sound of ‘Exotic Psychedelia’.

The new album ‘Levitation’ reached #5 in the Record Store chart and was named Line of Best Fit’s ‘Album of the Week’.  They play Latitude festival this Summer.

History

A genre-defying tribal pop/experimental worldbeat outfit with roots in both England and Bahrain, Flamingods‘ dizzying blend of traditional African and Middle Eastern music, psych-folk, and prog falls somewhere in between the Avalanches, Animal Collective, and Goat.
The debut full-length album, Sun, was released in 2013 via Art Is Hard.  In 2016 the band inked a deal with  Soundway Records and began work on a new LP. The resulting Majesty dropped the following year. The band moved to Moshi Moshi Records in 2017 and released the EP Kewali, followed closely by a remix LP of Majesty, which featured Ibibio Sound MachineMeridian Brothers. and ex-Oasis member Andy Bell. May 2019 saw the group issue their fourth full-length outing, Levitation. (James Christopher Monger)

Reviews
“Eastern and African flavours sieved through psychedelic prisms of pulsating neon and flickering campfires, think Goat meets Tinariwen at Hawkwind’s BBQ” Glastonbury
