Nottingham Poetry Festival Presents…
National Poetry Slam Champion Pete “the Temp” Bearder, presents a fun and fascinating tour of the oral tradition and the poetic movements that have shaped history. Why have wordsmiths have always been vilified, feared and revered?
Pete brings to life some of the most iconic moments in the history of performance poetry, from ballad singers and Beat poets, to the icons of dub, punk and hip hop. Pete is an award-winning spoken word poet, author and comic. His work has been featured on BBC Radio 4, The World Service, and Newsnight.
This show follows July’s release of his ground breaking new book ‘Stage Invasion’, described by Ian McMillan of BBC Radio 3 as ‘the book we have all been waiting for’.
“A charming wild rumpus of a ride – part lecture, part performance and utterly engaging.” – Tongue Fu
“Poetry’s answer to Mark Thomas” – Chortle
