Jazz music is a favourite for many, but in recent years the genre has particularly gained a following from a younger audience, as noticed in a feature by the Guardian.
Well-known artists like Kendrick Lamar and Tom Misch have gained huge followings for their nu-jazz sound in recent years through creating hybrids of jazz-funk and hip hop which younger audiences have shown great interest in. In doing so, they’ve paved the way for other artists in this genre, creating an exciting buzz around the jazz scene amongst younger audiences.
Where jazz before may have had connotations of times gone by, now it has a real footing in a lot of contemporary music across different genres – hip hop, rap, electronica and many more.
Nottingham’s jazz scene is thriving, thanks to a number of venues and organisations such as Jazz Steps which promote and organise jazz events throughout the city.
Metronome is keeping up this love for jazz, with a collection of contemporary jazz artists featuring throughout our Autumn programme where we expect to see age-diverse audiences. See what jazz artists we have coming to our venue this Autumn…
